Arizona Coyotes GM John Chayka says he will do everything he can to get franchise defenceman Oliver Ekman-Larsson signed to a long-term contract.

“We’ve been very clear that we’re willing to do whatever we possibly can to have him come back, and (we) think he’s a heck of a defenseman, heck of a player, heck of a person,” Chayka told NHL.com at the 2018 NHL Scouting Combine in Buffalo.

Ekman-Larsson, who will turn 27 in July, has one year remaining on a six-year, $33 million contract and can become an unrestricted free agent next summer.
